The place: CHURCH FENTON.     Church dedication: PATRON SAINT NOT KNOWN.     Church type: Peculiar. Discharged Vicarage.

Area, 4,410 acres. Barkstone Ash wapentake, U. D *1. - Population, 649 *2 ; Church-room, 400; Net value, £125. -This Church was a Rectory, which was appropriated to the Prebendary of Fenton, and a Vicarage ordained in 1240.

The Prebendary of Fenton is patron. Mr. Torre gives a catalogue of the Vicars.

Not noticed in Pope Nicholas's Survey: the value in the King's Books is £6. 13s. 4d.; in the Parliamentary Survey, vol. xviii. page 238, at £10 per annum.

Augmented in 1833 with £200 from the Parliamentary grant, to meet benefaction of £200 from the Rev. Dr. Bull, the patron.

There were unreported decrees in the Exchequer, in Michaelmas Term, 4th Elizabeth, and in ditto 44th Elizabeth.

Inclosure Acts were passed in the 9th Geo. III., 10th Geo. III., and 19th Geo. III.

The glebe house is unfit for residence.

The Register Books commence in 1630. They are defective from 1739 to 1750. -Vid. Transcripts in the Prebendal Registry.

Parochial Charities. -No return.
