ILKLEY:
Geographical and Historical information from the year 1829.

"ILKLEY, a village, in the parish of its name, in the wapentake of Skyrack, is six miles from Otley, much frequented in the summer for the benefit of its cold spring, which issues from the sides of a high hill overlooking the village, and the bath is deemed highly salutary in relaxed and scorbutic cases. The population is about 500."
Note: The directory entry for Ilkley in Pigot's 1829 Directory is included with Skipton.
