11 July 1579: - Body to be buried in the parish church of Leeds, "in the mid allow there, neare
unto my auncestors." To Margaret my wife, my tenements, cottages, lands, &c., near Tymble
Bridge, in the holding of Rauf Mathewe, Thomas Mathewe, and William Allan; and my other
cottages, &c., in a place called Ratten Rowe, in full recompense of her dower. Remainder, and
reversion of lands in occupation of Rauf M., and in a close called the Monckpittes, after decease
of my mother, Agnes M., to Richard M., my son and heir apparent. To son William M., my
tenement or cottage in Meadow Lane, in Leeds, and one tofte or croft in occupation of Rauf
Blackburne, and the reversion thereof after decease of my sister, Elizabeth M. To son Thomas
M., my said two cottages near Ratten Rowe, in the holding of Thomas M. and William Allan, and
reversion on death of my wife; and one other cottage under the Call Banke, in the holding of
Christopher Seale. To son Cuthbert M., my tenement with toft or croft, &c., in Kirkgate, now in
occupation of Lawrence Watson. To son Roland M., tenement or cottage, and croft or toft, in
Kirkgate, in occupation of William Harper. To son John M., cottage or tenement in Meadow Lane,
with toft or croft, in occupation of John Fletcher, and reversion on death of my sister Alice M. To
son Christopher M., my five cottages, with appurtnances in Ratten Row, in occupation of [blank]
Rishe, widdow, Thomas Myers, George Horner, [blank] Bowlinge, widdow, and Hugh Smithe; and
the reversion on death of my wife, and also my two tenements near to the Tymble Bridge end, and
my two crofts and appurtenances in the holding of Edward Cromacke and Bryan C., and my close
in Holbeck called the Oxclose near to Sainete Elline Chappell, and the reversion on death of
Agnes M., my mother. Brother-in-law, Christopher Hudson. Daughters, Elizabeth and Margaret
M. Executors - Margaret, my wife, Cuthbert and Roland, my sons. Supervisors - Christopher
Hudson and Roland Cokeson. Withesses: - Alexander Fawcett, vicar of Leeds; Christopher
Hudson, James Croft, Roland Cokeson, Alexander Benson, Rauf Mathewe, John Harryson, William
Bryan, Henry Kitchyn, with others.
