proved 20 October 1586: - Body to be buried in parish church of Leeds, "neare unto the mydle
windowe in the north allowe ther." Son Bryan Iles, my messuage, &c., in Leeds Kirkgate, in my
occupation, to the use following: - that he pay to himself 25£., which I do owe him; to my daughter
Rosamund I., 10£.; daughter Elizabeth Leighe, 5£.; son , William I., 10£.; on condition that he
"avoyd flytt, and departe of and from the same." To my sons Thomas and Mychaell I., my cottage
and three closes in Holbeck, near the Mylne Green, and parcels of the close called the Dry Close,
in my occupation, and my whole interest, &c., in the same, on condition that they pay to my
daughters Hester I., and Alice I., 24£. each. To my "doughter Alice I., 40s., to arraye her withall."
Grandchild Mary Leighe, 20s., to be put forth by her uncle, John Lambert. Poor, 20s. A dinner
to be made on the day of my burial for ten meaces of my neighbours at 2s. a meace [= Mess. i.e.
a party of guests at the awel or funeral dinner. - J.R.]; also 40s. to my said daughter Rosamund,
and 20s. to my son Bryan Iles' wife. Rest to be equally divided between my 8 children, William,
Edward, Thomas, Mychael, Elizabeth, Hester, and Alice. Executor, Laurence Leighe, my son-in-
law. Witnesses: - Abraham Faber, Raufe Iles, John Tunstal, Robert Hebden, and others.
