BISHOP THORNTON

TOWER TRUST

This old church tower, formerly owned by the
Church Commissioners, was scheduled for
demolition in 1993. However, a group of local
residents got together to save the Tower both as a
local landmark and as a source of local history.
They formed a Trust and, during 1995 and 1996,
mounted a sustained local fund-raising campaign
which took many forms. Together with a grant from
the Heritage Lottery Fund sufficient money was
raised to restore the Tower to its present condition.

However, the Tower requires on-going funding to
cover insurance and maintenance costs. Should
you wish to show your appreciation of the Tower
itself and for our desire to maintain it in such
pristine condition we would be very grateful for a
small donation which can be deposited in the
adjacent box.

Many thanks,

C A STOBBS
CHAIRMAN
BISHOP THORNTON TOWER TRUST
[THROTTLE NEST FARM]
