The place:

A Chapelry and hamlet, in the township of Quick, and parish of Rochdale (Lancs); 1½ miles from Delph. Here is a Chapel, which is a perpetual curacy, dedicated to St. Thomas, in the deanery of Manchester, diocese of Chester.
