A cotton factory is mentioned as increasing the Population in Lingarth or Lingards Township and Meltham Township. The woollen manufacture has not increased at the last mentioned place.
  • Note m - The Entire Parish of Huddersfield contains 24,220 inhabitants. The Return of Dean Head is included in that of Scammonden Township. The increase of population at Slaithwaite is attributed to the cotton manufactory.
  • Note n - The Entire Parish of Kirk-Burton contains 13,659 inhabitants. Cumberworth Half includes part of Skelmanthorpe Township, the other part is included in Elmley Parish but the whole is in Staincross Wapentake. Cumberworth is mostly in Silkstone Parish Staincross Wapentake.

  • Note o - The Entire Parish of Birstall contains 21,217 inhabitants. Cleckheaton Township includes Scholes and Oakenshaw; at Liversedge the increase of manufacture is noticed; at Wike an Inclosure has taken place.
  • Note p - The Entire Parish of Bradford contains 52,954 inhabitants It contained no more than 36,358 in 1811. The increase of Iron works is noticed in the Return from North Bierley, of the worsted manufactory in that from Bowling. In Bradford Township the Population is nearly doubled, having been 7,767 in 1811, from the unequalled increase of manufacture. Scribbling mills and worsted mills are noticed in the Return from Eccleshill, and the increase of cotton weaving as well as that of woollen manufacture at Horton.
  • Note q - The Entire Parish of Calverley contains 14,134 inhabitants
  • Note r - Dewsbury Parish is mostly in Lower Agbrigg Wapentake.
  • Note s - The Entire Parish of Halifax contains 92,850 inhabitants It contained no more than 73,415 in 1811. The increase is attributable to that of the woollen manufactory, and to the introduction of cotton works. A place called Ramble, included with Erringden in 1811 is now returned with Sowerby.

  • Note m - The Entire Parish of Barwick in Elmett contains 1,267 inhabitants.
  • Note n - Harewood Parish is partly in Upper Claro Wapentake, but mostly in Upper Skyrack Wapentake.
  • Note o - The Entire Parish of Kippax contains 1,765 inhabitants.
  • Note p - The Entire Parish of Thorner contains 1,010 inhabitants. An Inclosure has taken place at Scarcroft.
  • Note q - The Entire Parish of Whitkirk contains 2,227 inhabitants.
  • Note r - The Entire Parish of Addle contains 1,028 inhabitants. Brearey and Cookridge are included in the Return of Addle cum Eccup Township.
  • Note s - The Entire Parish of Bingley contains 7,375 inhabitants.
  • Note t - The Entire Parish of Guiseley contains 8,409 inhabitants. An emigration of above 100 persons to America is noticed on the Return for Horsforth Township, but the increase of the cloth manufactory and bleaching mills, especially at Yeadon, outweigh the cause of the diminution of the Population of the Parish at Large.
  • Note u - Harewood Parish is partly in Upper Claro and Lower Skyrack Wapentakes. The Entire Parish contains 2,348 inhabitants.
  • Note w - Ilkley Parish is partly in Upper Claro Wapentake. The Entire Parish contains 911 inhabitants.
  • Note x - Otley Parish is partly in the Lower Division and partly in the Upper Division of Claro Wapentake. The Entire Parish contains 9,358 inhabitants.

Staincliff & Ewecross Wapentake

  • Note y - Addingham Parish is partly in Upper Claro Wapentake. The Entire Parish contains 1,650 inhabitants. A considerable fluctuation in the Population has occurred since 1811, manufacture having flourished, but since declined.
  • Note z - Arncliffe Parish is mostly in the West Division of the Staincliff and Ewecross Wapentake, Buckden Township being in the East Division.
  • Note a - The Entire Parish of Barnoldwick contains 2,350 inhabitants.
  • Note b - The Entire Parish of Burnsall contains 1,423 inhabitants.
  • Note c - The Entire Parish of Gargrave contains 1,659 inhabitants.
  • Note d - The Entire Parish of Kildwick contains 9,565 inhabitants. The increase of trade is mentioned on the schedule from Cowling Township. At Silsden, nail-making and weaving of cotton and worsted have much increased.
  • Note e - Kirkby in Mallam Dale Parish is mostly in the West Division of Staincliff and Ewecross Wapentake.
  • Note f - The Entire Parish of Linton contains 1,910 inhabitants.
  • Note g - Skipton Parish is partly in Upper Claro Wapentake. The Entire Parish contains 5,479 inhabitants. One female in Skipton Township is upwards of 100 years of age.

  • Note r - The Entire Parish of Slaidburn contains 2,583 inhabitants. Bowland Forest is deemed to extend into Whalley Parish (Blackburn Hundred, Lancashire)
  • Note s - The Entire Parish of Thornton in Lonsdale contains 1,281 inhabitants. A cotton factory causes an influx of inhabitants from other places. The inhabitants of Ireby (Lancashire) resort to the Parish Church of Thornton in Lonsdale.

Staincross Wapentake

  • Note x - The Entire Parish of High Hoyland contains 1,122 inhabitants, exclusive of Skelmanthorpe, part of which is in Emley Parish, but its Population is included in Cumberworth Half Kirkburon Parish Agbrigg Wapentake. The Population of the High Hoyland part of Skelmanthorpe is included in Cumberworth Half Silkstone Parish in this Wapentake.
  • Note y - The Entire Parish of Penistone contains 5,042 inhabitants.
  • Note z - The Entire Parish of Royston contains 3,126 inhabitants.
  • Note a - The Entire Parish of Silkstone contains 13,728 inhabitants The Township of Barnesley flourished greatly, containing all kinds of linen manufacture, besides iron foundries and wire drawing. Its Population in 1811 was no more than 5,014, now 8,284. Dodworth partakes in the linem manufacture, and the collieries have increased at Silkstone. West Bretton is partly in Great Sandall, Parish Agbrigg Wapentake, Cumberworth includes that part of Skelmanthorpe which is in the Parish of High Hoyland.Cumberworth is partly in Kirk Burton Parish Agbrigg Wapentake Upper Division, and contains together 2,415 inhabitants.

  • Note c - Wragby Parish is mostly in Upper Osgoldcross Wapentake and is partly included in Sharlston Agbrigg Wapentake.

  • Note s - The Entire Parish of Fishlake contains 1,274 inhabitants. One female in Sykehouse Township is upaward of 100 years of age.
  • Note t - The Entire Parish of Hatfield contains 2,642 inhabitants. South Bramwith Township is now included in the Return of Stainforth. An Inclosure has taken place in Hatfield since 1811.

  • Note a - Sheffield Parish is partly in the North Division of Strafforth and Tickhill Wapentake. The Entire Parish contains 62,105 inhabitants. At Ecclesall Bierlow, the lowness of the poors rate is said to cause an influx of inhabitants; and an Inclosure has taken place at Thorne.
  • Note b - The Entire Parish of Tickhill contains 1,884 inhabitants.
  • Note c - The Entire Parish of Treeton contains 703 inhabitants, including the whole of Ulley which is partly in the Parish of Aston with Aughton.
  • Note d - An Inclosure of land has taken place at Wickersley.
