Matthew, son of William Fairfax, was baptized at Wiling 24 February, 1597-8; and William Fairfax, gentleman, was buried 17 September, 1617, at Oswaldkirk. Probably he was son of Robert Fairfax, and first cousin to Themes, Viscount Elmley, my Ancestor. In the Register of St. John's, York, is the following entry: "Mr. William Fairfax, gentleman, prisoner upon Owzebridge, for debt, died January 25 and was hurled January 26, 1815-6." C. B, N.

The leaf which contained the marriages from 1590 to 1603 has been cut out.
They had issue Paul Marriott, whose son Reginald, bp. 28 Dec 1635, in 1675 granted a Rent Charge of 6s. 8d. for ever to the poor of Roos. The benefactor's brother Richard, bp 22 Jan. 1638-9, had a son Reginald, baptised 18 Nov. 1670 and three other sons.
A younger branch. He was buried at Pocklington 3 Aug. 1647; his wife 19 Sept. 1654. They kept their "Golden Wedding."

He was probably a native of York and of St. Martin's parish, in which William, son of George Fairweather was baptised 2 April, 1582, and in the years 1622, 1624, and 1629, respectively, baptized his sons Thomas, Christopher, and William Fairweather.

Dr. Whitaker (Whalley, 1806, p. 444), says this Thomas died a minor, and makes no mention of marriage.
His daughter, Lucy Orrock, was baptized 10 April, 1603 his eon Robert 30 Oct. 1608. He buried a wife, Sibell, 14 Oct., 1620, and was himself buried 5 Sept., 1657, at St. Michael's, Malton.

At this church, David, son of Robert Thomlinson of Dringhouses, was baptized 30 November 1599, and his brother James 24 July, 1603.
Took place 9 April, 1599.
Forster's Visitation, p. 523, and Mr. Surtees, Durham, I., p. 43, inform us that she was reputed daughter of Sir Ralph Bulmer of Wilton, Knight and widow of Anthony Welbury, of Castle Eden, co. Pal. Durham, who died 5 November, 1596. Her daughter Elizabeth married Lancelot Lowther her daughter Eleanor married William Lowther; and another of her daughters, Isabel or Barbara, married Hugh Lowther, all three younger brothers to Gerard.
