William Thorpe, of Footed Garth, parish of Owthorne, and of Danthorpe, parish of Humbleton, was baptized at Welwick, 14 Feb., 1576-7, and died in May, 1620, aet. 46. Poulson's Holderness, II. 514, 515. Foster's Visitations, pp. 53, 633. Dugdale, Surtees Society, p. 134. His wife, Elizabeth, was daughter of Peter Vavasour, of Willitoft, by Ann Stillington, and died 1627.
From the Register of the York Taylors and Drapers' Company, I find that Anthony Monckton, "Abled" as Master Draper 8 Aug., 1611, and paid a fine of 13s. 4d. But I have no further account of him among some forty entries of his. name from the York Registers.
Took place at York, 10 Feb., 1613-14.
This may be John Jenison, of Walworth (Surtees Durham, III. p. 320), who married Margaret, daughter of William Bowes, of Ellerbeck.

See Foster's Visitation, p. 242. His grand-mother, Lady Katherine Clifford, died in 1595. His mother, Katherine Cholmley, was not buried till 2 October, 1623, at St. Michael's, Malton. His first wife was Frances Gale.
Took place 25 May, 1613. I have her as Katherine.
One Rowland Harwood was Rector of Hawnby, N. R. Y., from 25 Sept. 1660 to 1668. Foster's " Alumni Oxonienses " says he was son of the Rev. Thomas Harwood, Rector of South Ottrington, 25 Sept. 1620 to 1G24, and matriculated at St. Alban's Hall, 9 April, 1641, aged 18.

Married 8 June, 161,3, at St. Martin's, Micklegate, York.
Thomas Layton, of Sexhow, and Mary wrongly called Katherine on p: 39 of Foster's Visitations, and given without a Christian name at all on p. 540 of the same work), daughter of Thomas Fairfax, of Gilling, Viscount Elmley, and sister- of the Honble. Dorothy, Lady Norcliffe. I cannot find that this Thomas was ever knighted, although he has been styled so by modem writers on Cleveland (one more foolish than the other). who have. taken the word "Kent" for "Knight." Rev. John Graves. Cleveland, 1808, pp. 172, 173, does not dub Mr. Layton a Knight. They were a young couple, for he was not 15 in 1612, and she was baptized at Gilling.29 Feb. 1600--1.
Took place at York, 10 June. 1613.
Marmaduke Constable, of Cliffe, aged 20, 1612, Dugdale, Surtees Society, p. 839, and Anne, daughter of Edward Barker, of Dore, co. Derby. He was buried at Sancton, 19 Oct 1652.

Lewis Darcy, of York, made his will, 18 Sept. 1618, to which Conyers Darcy is witness, naming his brothers Arthur, John, Thomas, and his sister Robinson. The Register of St. Sampson's., in which are ten entries of this ancient name, only begins in 1640. Some of them were silk-weavers. Lewis Darcy married at St. Cuthbert's, 29 May, 1643, Elizabeth Dunwell. Another Lewis Darcy was a barber, and was buried at St. John's, 4 May, 1730.

On p. 43 of that work Mrs. Laycock. is called wife of Richard Dawson, of Haworth, whose will, dated 6 Oct. 1649, was proved by his widow and executrix, Elizabeth, in the Prerogative Office, London (Bowyer, 219). He was baptized 25 Aug. 1593, and buried 4 January, 1652-3, at St. Olave's, where his son was baptized 28 Sept. 1628; and his widow buried 31 March, 1680.

This could hardly have been the marriage of the Archbishop of Armagh, born at Pontefract in 1593, but may have been a second marriage of his father. The Archbishop was about a year Rector of St. Martin's, Micklegate, York, viz., 2 Aug. 1617, to some day in 1618; and is said to have married one Mrs. Halley, widow of a clergyman.
Took place 30 Nov. 1613.
