In 1868, the parish of Aghagallon contained the following places:

"AGHAGALLON, (or Aughagallon), a parish in the barony of upper Massareene, in the county of Antrim, province of Ulster, Ireland, 10 miles to the W. of Lisburn. It is situated on the Lagan canal, at its junction with Lough Neagh, which is the western boundary of the parish. About one-third of the area of the parish is covered with the waters of the Lough. The soil is good, and the bog valuable. There is no waste land. Spinning and weaving are the chief occupations of the inhabitants. The living is a vicarage united with that of Aghalee, in the diocese of Down, Connor, and Dromore. The church is in ruins."

"AGHABE, a village in the barony of Upper Massarene, in the county of Antrim, 2 miles to the N. of Moira."
