The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Ballyellin contained the following places:

"BALLYELLIN, a parish in the baronies of East Idrone, Forth, and Lower St. Mullin's, in the county of Carlow, province of Leinster, Ireland, 5 miles N.E. of Graig, its post town. It lies on the south bank of the river Barrow, near Goresbridge, and contains a quarry of black marble. The living is a rectory united with the vicarage of Lorum, in the diocese of Ossory, Ferns, and Leighlin. The chief residence is Ballyellin House.
