"CASTLERAHAN BARONY, one of the 8 baronies or subdivisions of the county of Cavan, province of Ulster, Ireland, situated in the southern part of the county, and bounded on the N. by the baronies of Upper Loughtee and Clonkeen, on the E. and S. by the county of Meath, and on the W. by the barony of Clanmahon. It contains the parishes of Castlerahan, Lurgan, Mullagh, and Munterconnaught, with parts of Baillieborough, Crosserlough, Devin, Killinkere, and Loughan. The barony comprises an area of about 71,000 acres."

"CHURCH ISLAND, a small island in Lough Sheelin, which lies between the counties of Meath, Westmeath, Cavan, and Longford. There are some ruins on the island."

"CLANKEE, (or Clonkee), a barony in the county of Cavan, in the province of Ulster, Ireland. It is bounded by the barony of Tullaghgarvey on the N., by the county of Monaghan on the E., the county of Meath on the S., and Loughtree on the W. Its length is 14 miles by nearly 10 broad, with an area of 64,378 acres of hilly surface. The northern portion is drained by the river Annalee, the southern by Lough Swillan and Virginia-water flowing into the Boyne. It contains the parishes of Knockbride and Shercock, and parts of Drumgoon, Bailieborough, or Moybolgue, and Enniskeen.

It is bounded by the baronies of Lower Loughtee, Tullaghgarvey, Castleregan, Clonmahon, Tallaghonoho, and Tullaghagh. It contains the parishes of Annagelliff, Castleterra, and Savey, and parts of Crosserlough, Denn, Killinkere, Kilmore, Larag, and Urney, with the town of Cavan, and the villages of Ballyhaise and Stradone.

"UPPER MACNEAN LOUGH, (and Lower Macnean Lough) two lakes, chiefly in the province of Ulster and partly in that of Connaught, on the borders of counties Cavan and Leitrim, Ireland. They lie about half a mile distant from each other, between loughs Erne and Melvin. The upper lake, which contains several small islands, is 5 miles long, the lower 3 miles.

"WOODFORD, a stream of counties Leitrim, Cavan, and Fermanagh, Ireland, rises near Ballinamore, and flowing through Lough Garadice, falls into Upper Lough Erne."
