In 1868, the parish of Clonlea contained the following places:

"CLONLEA, (or Clonleigh), a parish in the barony of Lower Tulla, in the county of Clare, province of Munster, Ireland, 5 miles to the S. of Tulla. Six-Mile Bridge is its post town. The surface is mountainous and boggy, with a large proportion of limestone. The principal loughs are Clonleigh and Clonbrick. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Killaloe, value with O'Mullod, £123, in the patronage of the bishop. The church was built in 1811 at the expense of the late Board of First Fruits. There are two Roman Catholic chapels, a classical, and six day schools. The principal residences are Belvoir, Glen wood, Sunville, Kilkishen, Scart, Killeen, Lakeview, and Kyle House. The ruin of Stackpoole Court gives the title of baron to the earls of Limerick.
