In 1868, the parish of Killofin contained the following places:

"KILLOFIN, a parish in the barony of Clonderalaw, county Clare, province of Munster, Ireland, 6 miles S.W. of Kildysert, its post town. It is 4 miles long by 2 broad, and contains the village of Labasheeda. The parish lies at the mouth of the Shannon, near Kilkerran Point; it comprises a peninsula extending between Clonderalaw Bay and the Shannon. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Killaloe, value with Kilmurry-Clonderalaw, £318, in the patronage of the bishop. Killofin House and Ballyartney are the principal residences in the neighbourhood. Calmanstown Castle and Gap Castle are in this parish. Coal and culm are found, but not generally worked."

"LABASHEEDA, a village in the parish of Killofin, in the barony of Clonderalaw, county Clare, province of Munster, Ireland, 6 miles S.W. of Kildysert. It is situated on the road to Kilrush, and at the mouth of the Shannon, where the ferry crosses to Tarbert. There is, a police station, and a Roman Catholic chapel in the neighbourhood. A considerable corn trade is carried on."
