In 1868, the parish of Kilmaleery contained the following places:

"KILMALEERY, a parish in the barony of Lower Bunratty, county Clare, province of Munster, Ireland, 2 miles S.W. of Newmarket. Sixmilebridge is its post town. It is 2½ miles long by 1½ mile broad. It lies on the E. side of the mouth of the river Fergus. The soil is good. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Killaloe, value with Kilnasoolagh, £158, in the patronage of the bishop. At Clenagh is a castle of the M'Mahons."
