In 1868, the parish of Kilshanny contained the following places:

"KILSHANNY, a parish in the barony of Corcomroe, county Clare, province of Munster, Ireland, 3 miles N. of Ennistimon, its post town. The parish is 3 miles in length and the same in breadth. The surface is flat, with a considerable proportion of bog and waste. It comprises part of Lough Goller. The road from Ennistimon to Kilfenora traverses the interior. There is a Roman Catholic chapel united to that of Kilfenora, and two day schools. Streamlet Lodge is the chief residence. Here is a cell to Corcomroe Abbey. Remains of the old church are seen, with some castle ruins and traces of forts."
