The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Ballyoughtera contained the following places:

"BALLYOUGHTERA, a parish in the barony of Imokilly, in the county of Cork, province of Munster, Ireland, 18 miles to the E. of Cork. It includes part of the town of Castlemartyr. Ironstone abounds in the district. The living is a rectory united with that of Castlemartyr, in the diocese of Cork, Cloyne, and Ross. The church is at Castlemartyr. Ruins of the old church and of twc castles still remain."
