The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Clontead contained the following places:

"CLONTEAD, a parish and village in the barony of Kin-ale, in the county of Cork, province of Munster, Ireland, 1 mile N. of Kinsale, its post town. The parish is traversed by the river Bandon, and consists of good and well-cultivated land. The living is a perpetual curacy in the diocese of Cork, value with Tracton, £97, in the patronage of the Countess of Carnwath. The Roman Catholic chapel is united to that of Ballyfeard. The manor formerly belonged to Tracton Abbey. Palacetown is the principal residence."
