The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Kilkerranmore contained the following places:

"KILKERRANMORE, a parish in the baronies of East Carbery, Ibane, and Barryroe, county Cork, province of Munster, Ireland, 2 miles S.W. of Clonakilty, its post town. The parish is 5½ miles long by 1½ mile broad. The surface lies along the W. coast of Clonakilty Bay. The soil is generally good. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Ross, value with another, £265, in the patronage of the bishop. The church is situated at Castle Ventry. The Roman Catholic chapel is united to that of Ross. There are four day schools. Slate is prevalent."

"BALLINAVAR, a hamlet in the barony of West Carbery, in the county of Cork, province of Munster, Ireland, 4 miles to the N.E. of Rosscarbery." [Shown as Ballinvar Bridge on OS maps]
