The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Knockavilly contained the following places:

"KNOCKAVILLY, a parish in the baronies of Kinalea and East Muskerry, county Cork, province of Munster, Ireland, 5 miles N.E. of Bandon, its post town. It is 3½ miles long by 3 broad, and lies near the rivers Bandon and Bride. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Cork, value £511, in the patronage of the bishop. There are a Protestant Sunday and a day school, also a police station in the parish. Garryhankard is the principal seat. Clay slate is abundant."
