The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Leitrim contained the following places:

"LEITRIM, a parish in the baronies of Cordons and Coshmore, counties Cork and Waterford, province of Munster, Ireland, 4 miles N.E. of Fermoy. Kilworth is its post town. It is 5 miles long by 3 broad. The surface consists of a tract peninsulated by the river Blackwater and the small stream Araglin. It is mountainous and pastoral for the most part, and is crossed by the road from Fermoy to Lismore. Limestone, building stone, and slate are quarried. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Cloyne, value with Kilworth, 1712, in the patronage of the bishop. There are two hedge-schools."
