The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Ross, value with another, £500, in the patronage of the bishop. The church was built by means of a sum lent by the late Board of First Fruits in 1830. The Roman Catholic chapel is united to that of Abbeymahon: There are Sunday and day schools. Lislee House is the seat of Sir E. Synge, Bart., and Seacourt the villa of Earl Shannon. The hawk builds in the cliffs. Slate can be quarried."

"COURTMACSHERRY, a village in the parish of Lislee, baronies of Ibane and Barryroe, in the county of Cork, province of Munster, Ireland, It is a coastguard station, and is resorted to in the summer months as a watering place. The inhabitants carry on a pretty extensive fishery. There is a good pier erected by government, but the harbour only admits small vessels. Courtmacsherry House belongs to the Earl of Shannon. In the vicinity are the ruins of Abbey Mahon. The bay lies between the baronies of Barryroe and Courceys, and penetrates inland over 3 miles. The opposite coasts narrow in at one point so much, as to form an inner and outer harbour, separated by a barony The outer one affords but a poor refuge for craft, and is bounded on the one side by Old Kinsale Head, and on the other by Seven Heads. The inner is the embouchure of the river Arigadeen. Here is abundance of fish."

"MEELMANE, a village in the parish of Lislee, in the baronies of Ibane and Barryroe, county Cork, province of Munster, Ireland, near Timoleague."
