The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Mogeesha contained the following places:

"MOGEESHA, a parish in the baronies of Barrymoore and Imokilly, county Cork, province of Munster, Ireland, containing part of Middleton, its post town. The parish is 3½ miles long by 1½ mile broad. The surface lies along the margin of the Middleton river, near Cork Harbour, and is traversed by the road from Cork to Waterford. The soil is mostly good. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Cloyne, value £513, in the patronage of the bishop. There are two or three day schools. Rossmore is the principal residence."
