In 1868, the parish of St Michaels contained the following places:

"ST. MICHAEL'S, a parish in the baronies of Barrymore and Cork, county Cork, Ireland, 5 miles N. of Cork. The surface is hilly, but the soil good, with limestone subsoil. The village is small and chiefly agricultural. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Cork, value £120, in the patronage of the bishop. The church is an ancient edifice, dedicated to St. Michael. There are several schools.
