"DRUMBEG, a parish in the baronies of Upper Belfast and Upper Castlereagh, in county Down and county Antrim, province of Connaught, Ireland, 1 mile N.E. of Lisburne, its post town, which is a station on the Ulster railway. It is situated on the river Lagan, and contains the village of Dunmurry. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Down, value £267, in the patronage of the bishop. The church was rebuilt in 1795 by the late Board of First Fruits. The tower was blown down in 1831, but was re-erected by J. Charley, Esq. Here are two Presbyterian meeting-houses and two day schools, one of which is assisted by the Erasmus Smith Charity. This parish has been enlarged by the addition of a part of Drumboe. The principal seats are Lakefield and Belvedere."
