The congregation was founded in 1830. The congregation moved to the present Ballycairn Presbyterian church (which is at the northern end of the townland) in 1926. It MAY be that the congregation met at the church hall they built in Ballylesson in the transition between the two Ballycairn churches.
Registers of Baptisms (from 1860) & Marriages (from 1845) are held in locally by the congregation.
