In 1868, the parish of Killinchy contained the following places:

"KILLINCHY, a parish and post-office village in the baronies of Dufferin and Lower and Upper Castlereagh, county Down, province of Ulster, Ireland, 3 miles N.E. of Saintfield. The parish is 5 miles long by 2 broad, and is situated on the W. side of Lough Strangford. A small stream called the Blackwater drains the surface into that lough. Slate and coal are found. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Down, value £577. The church was built, by means of local assessment and subscription, in 1829. Here area Roman Catholic chapel, Presbyterian meeting-house, and several day schools. Ardview and Fair Valley are the principal residences. There is a police station, and petty sessions are held in the village. Balloo is one of two castles in the parish. Fairs are held on the 5th January, 6th April, 6th July, and 5th October."
