The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Belleek contained the following places:

"BELLEEK, a parish in the barony of Lurg, in the county of Fermanagh, province of Ulster, Ireland, 5 miles to the E. of Ballyshannon, and 21 miles to the N.W. of Enniskillen. It is situated in a mountainous district at the western extremity of Lough Erne. Limestone is found in abundance, and there is a considerable extent of bog. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Armagh and Clogher, value £174, in the patronage of the archbishop. There is a Roman Catholic chapel. Petty sessions are held, and a police force is situated in the village. The principal seats are Castle Caldwell and Maghramena. The parish contains ruins of an abbey, and a church, and traces of some Danish forts. Fairs are held on the 3rd February, the 17th March, the 17th May, the 20th June, and the 10th October."
