KILLORAN, a parish, in the barony of LONGFORD, county of GALWAY, and province of CONNAUGHT, 8 miles (W. N. W.) from Eyrecourt, on the road from Loughrea to Ballinasloe; containing 1835 inhabitants. It comprises 3297 statute acres, of which about one-fourth are arable, and the remainder pasture land and bog. It is a rectory and vicarage, in the diocese of Clonfert: the rectory is partly appropriate to the see, and partly, with the vicarage, forms a portion of the union of Kiltormer The tithes amount to £79.1.6½., of which £18. 9. 2¾.

is payable to the Ecclesiastical Commissioners, and £60. 12. 3¾. to the vicar. In the R. C. divisions it forms part of the union or district of Abbeygormagan, and contains a chapel. About 80 children are educated in a private school.
