"KILCUMMIN, a parish in the barony of Magunihy, county Kerry, province of Munster, Ireland, 4 miles N.E. of Killarney, its post town. The surface lies principally within the valley of the river Flesk, and forms part of a mountainous and wild district. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Ardfert and Aghadoe, value with Killarney, £534, in the patronage of the crown and the Earl of Kenmare. There are two Roman Catholic chapels, united to that of Killarney, and three day schools. Shannagh is a residence situated in the E. of the parish. There is a monastery at Rathmore. Limestone is quarried in this parish."
