In 1868, the parish of Ballybur contained the following places:"BALLYBUR, a parish in the barony of Shillelogher, and county of Kilkenny, in the province of Leinster, Ireland, 4 miles to the S. of Kilkenny. The living is a vicarage included in the union of St. Canice, Kilkenny, in the diocese of Ossory, Ferns, and Leighlin.
