In 1868, the parish of Ballylarkin contained the following places:"BALLYLARKIN, a parish in the barony of Cranagn, in the county of Kilkenny, province of Leinster, Ireland, near Freshford. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Ossory, Ferns, and Leighlin. There was formerly a castle here, belonging to the Shortalls."
