The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Donaghmore contained the following places:

"DONAGHMORE, (or Ballyragget), a parish in the barony of Fassadinin, in the county of Kilkenny, province of Leinster, Ireland, 10 miles to the N.W. of Kilkenny. It lies on the east side of the river Nore, which is crossed by a bridge of ten arches. The castle, now in ruins, was formerly the seat of the Butlers. The living is an impropriate rectory in the diocese of Ossory, Ferns, and Leighlin. The principal seat is Ballyragget Lodge.
