The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Dunkitt contained the following places:

"DUNKITT, a parish in the barony of Ida, in the county of Kilkenny, province of Leinster, Ireland, 2 miles N.E. of Mullinavat. Waterford is its post town. It is situated on the river Suir. The surface is rather hilly, and includes a small portion of Lough Cullen. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Ossory, value with two others, £436, in the patronage of the crown. The church, situated at Gaulskill, was built in 1800 by the late Board of First Fruits. The Roman Catholic chapel is at Bigwood, and is united to those of Kilmacow and Mullinavat. There are four day schools in the union. The principal residences are Mullinabro', Dunkitt, and Killashy. Limestone is extensively quarried."
