The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Killamery contained the following places:

"KILLAMERY, a parish in the barony of Kells, county Kilkenny, province of Leinster, Ireland, 5 miles S.S.W. of Callan, its post town. The parish is 4 miles long by 3 broad, and contains the village of Windgap. The soil is indifferent. The road from Dublin to Cork passes through the interior. The living is a prebendary in the diocese of Ossory, value £221, in the patronage of the bishop. The church was erected in 1815 by the late Board of First Fruits. The Roman Catholic chapel is united to that of Tullahought. There are three day schools. Garryrichen is the demesne of the Marquis of Ormonde. This parish is the alleged site of a monastery presided over by St. Gebban."
