The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Muckalee Fassadinin contained the following places:

"MUCKALEE, a parish in the barony of Fassadinin, county Kilkenny, province of Leinster, Ireland, 3 miles S. of Castlecomer, its post town. It is 3 miles long by 2 broad. The surface is hilly, but comprises a fair proportion of good arable soil. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Ossory, value with Dunmore, £179, in the patronage of the crown. There are two day schools. Rockbrook is the chief seat of the locality. This spot is interesting as being the place where Cormac, king of Munster, was slain.
