The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Owning contained the following places:

"OWNING, (or Beaulieu), a parish in the barony of Iverk, county Kilkenny, province of Leinster, Ireland, 2 miles N.W. of Pilltown, its post town. It is 4 miles long by 2 broad, extending along the river Suir. The surface is mountainous but fertile. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Ossory, value with Fiddown, £830, in the patronage of the bishop. Ruins of the church are seen. Here are two day schools.
