In 1868, the parish of Shanbogh contained the following places:

"SHANBOGH, a parish in the barony of Ida, county Kilkenny, province of Munster, Ireland, 2 miles S.W. of New Ross, its post town. It is situated on the river Barrow. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Ossory, value with Rossbercon £328. The church is in ruins. It is joined to Rossbercon in the Roman Catholic division. Annagh is the chief seat. s Shanbough"
