The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Ballinard contained the following places:

"BALLINARD, a parish in the barony of Small County, in the county of Limerick, province of Munster, Ireland, 5 miles to the N.E. of Bruff.

"HERBERTSTOWN, a village in the parishes of Ballinard and Kilcullane, in the barony of Small County, county Limerick, province of Munster, Ireland, 5 miles N.E. of Bruff. It stands on the road between Limerick and Hospital, and contains a police station. Fairs are held on the 15th January, 17th March, 28th June, 26th August, and 7th November."
