The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Ballyscaddan contained the following places:

"BALLYSCADDAN, a parish in the barony of Coshlea, in the county of Limerick, province of Munster, Ireland, 8 miles to the E. of Kilinallock. The living is a rectory in the dioc, of Cashel, Emly, Waterford, and Lismnre, of the value with that of Glanbane, of £92, in the gift of the crown. The church is decayed. The principal mansion is Ryves Castle, the seat of the Ryans.

"GARRYSPILLANE, a village in the parish of Ballyscaddan, barony of Coshlea, county Limerick, province of Munster, Ireland, 5 miles N. of Kilfinnane."
