The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868
In 1868, the parish of Caherconlish contained the following places:"CAHERCONLISH, a parish in the barony of Clanwilliam, in the county of Limerick, province of Munster, Ireland, 8 miles to the S.E. of Limerick. It is crossed by the Waterford and Limerick railway. The district is fertile, and the town was anciently a place of importance, being a borough and fortified. A field near it, called College Field, is said to have been the site of an ancient college. A police force is established here. The living is a vicarage united with those of Luddonbeg and Carrigparson, in the diocese of Cashel, Emly, Waterford, and Lismore, value £385, in the patronage of the bishop. The church is in the early English style, with, a tower and spire. There is a handsome parish school-house. The chief residence is Caherconlish House, the seat of the Wilson family. Traces of several old fortresses exist in the vicinity. Fairs are held on the 16th May, the 20th August, the 17th October, and the 5th December.
