The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Colmanswell contained the following places:

"COLMANSWELL, (or Clooncoragh), a parish in the barony of Upper Connello, in the county of Limerick, province of Munster, Ireland, 6 miles to the W. of Kilmallock. The parish extends along the right bank of the river Maigue, and is intersected by the road from Charleville to Rathkeale. It consists of a soil of medium quality. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Limerick. The church is in ruins. The Roman Catholic chapel is united to two others in Bruree. This parish taken its name from a sacred well.
