The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Crecora contained the following places:

"CRECORA, a parish in the barony of Pubblebrien, in the county of Limerick, province of Munster, Ireland, 2 miles S.E. of St. Patrick's Well, and 5 S.W. of Limerick, its post town. The road from St. Patrick's Well to Bruff passes through the interior, which consists of moderately good soil, with a proportion of limestone. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Limerick, value £72, in the patronage of the Vicars-Choral of Limerick. There is no church to this parish. The Roman Catholic chapel is united to that of Mungret, which, together with Knocknagaul, and a portion of Kilpeacon, form the Roman Catholic union of Crecora. There are several private schools. The old church was destroyed during the disturbances of 1641, and has remained a ruin since. In the burial-ground are family vaults of the surrounding gentry. The seats of the neighbourhood are Greenmount, Ballymurphy, Doneen, and Ashfort."
