The surface consists of good land, and is traversed by the road from Limerick to Cork. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Limerick, in the patronage of the bishop. The Roman Catholic chapel is united to that of Cahiravalla. There is a daily school. The principal residences are South Hill, Clonlong, and Ballyseeda.
