The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Kilbradran contained the following places:

"KILBRADRAN, (or Kilbroderan), a parish in the baronies of Lower Connello and Shanid, county Limerick, province of Munster, Ireland, 3 miles N.W. of Rathkeale. Limerick is its post town. The parish lies along the W. bank of the river Deel. It is 3 miles long by 1 mile broad, and consists principally of good land. The road from Askeaton to Newcastle traverses the interior; and abridge, erected in 1747, spans the river. The living is a rectory and vicarage in the diocese of Limerick (at present suspended), in the patronage of the bishop. The Roman Catholic chapel is united to that of Kilcoleman. There is a private school. Ruins of the old church and of Rathgonin Castle still exist. Limestone rock prevails.
