The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Kilfinny contained the following places:

"KILFINNY, a parish in the barony of Upper Connello, county Limerick, province of Munster, Ireland, 3 miles W. of Croom. Loughill is its post town. The surface is hilly. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Limerick, value with Loughill, £108, in the patronage of the bishop. There is a Roman Catholic chapel, united to that of Croagh; also a day school. In this parish are ruins of the old church, of Cormac MacEinery's castle, which was reduced in 1641, and of Finnitertown, a seat of the Purcell family. Fairs are held on the 15th May, 14th July, 12th September, and 22nd December.
