The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Particles contained the following places:

"PARTICLES, a parish in the barony of Coshlea, county Limerick, province of Munster, Ireland, 2 miles S.W. of Kilfinnane. Kilmallock is its post town. It contains the village of Glenasheen. The soil is good. The living is a perpetual curacy in the diocese of Limerick, and is appropriate to the dean and chapter. It takes its name from once having been jointly held by the Abbeys of Manister-Nenagh, Kilmallock, Buttevant, and Adare. Sunville is the neighbouring seat.
