The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Tankardstown contained the following places:

"TANKARDSTOWN, a parish in the barony of Coshma, county Limerick, province of Munster, Ireland, 2 miles N.W. of Kilmallock. Killarney is its post town. The soil is excellent. The parish is crossed by the road from Kilmallock to Bruree, and by the river Maigue. The Hill of Knocksowney is within the limits. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Limerick, value £129, in the patronage of the bishop. The ruins only of the church remain. There is a day school."
