The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Tuogh contained the following places:

"TUOGH, a parish in the barony of Owneybeg, county Limerick, province of Munster, Ireland, 3 miles N.E. of Pallas Grean. Limerick is its post town. The surface is mountainous, and consists of a capital soil, with a small proportion of bog. The parish is traversed by the river Mulkear, and contains the hill of Cappamore. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Emly, value with Abingdon £720, in the patronage of the bishop. The church is in rains. There are a Roman Catholic chapel, and several public and four private schools. The chief residences are Tower Hill and Castle Garde. Fairs are held several times during the year.

"CAPPAMORE, a village in the parish of Tuogh, barony of Owneybeg, in the county of Limerick, province of Munster, Ireland, 12 miles to the S.E. of Limerick. It is seated near the river Mulkern, a branch of the Shannon. The river is crossed by a stone bridge. Cattle fairs are held here on the 20th April, the 1st July, the 20th September, and the 12th December."
