The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Clogher contained the following places:

"CLOGHER, (or Kilclogher), a parish and post-town in the barony of Ferrand, in the county of Louth, province of Leinster, Ireland. It lies about 6 miles N.E. of Drogheda, and is rendered conspicuous by Clogher Head, rising about 181 feet above the sea-level. On the N. side of the Head is a small natural dock, entered by a gut not above 20 feet wide. The village is a favourite watering-place, built near the site of an abbey, of which it is said Nectan, a nephew of St. Patrick, was abbot. There are also ruins of a castle and a half-finished pier. The soil is generally good. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Armagh, united with Termonfeckan.
